Dr. Jim Kennedy BVSc. (Melb. 1977) MACVSC (Medicine of Dogs and Medicine of Horses)

MainPic

I graduated from University of Melbourne in 1977 and I have worked at Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital since 1990.  I have been a partner in the Practice since 1996.   I am married and have four children, all of whom have taken up horse riding.  At present we have four horses, a Border Collie and three Birman cats. My major interest professionally is Small Animal and Equine Medicine, but I enjoy all aspects of mixed practice.  Being an Academic Associate with Melbourne University, I have an interest in Veterinary education.  You may find Veterinary students seeing practice with us as part of their course.

Dr. Ben Fell BA. BVSc. (Hons) MANZCVSc. (Surgery)

MainPic

Dr Fell joined our practice in 2005 and apart from a year of travelling, has been here since.  Ben studied his Bachelor of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland and graduated with first class Honours.  Dr. Fell has obtained a Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the area of Small Animal Surgery.  This involved intensive post-graduate study over two years and a series of written and oral examinations.  In 2010 Dr. Fell became a third partner in our practice.

Dr. Fell's professional area of interest is that of surgery.  He routinely performs major orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical procedures at our hospital and accepts referrals from veterinary colleagues.   Of particular interest is cruciate ligament injury, fracture management, corrective osteotomies for growth abnormalities and reconstructive surgery.

Away from veterinary practice, Dr. Fell's interests are sports (he is a keen Brisbane Lions supporter), literature, music, food and wine.

I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 with first class honours and started at the Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital in January of this year.

My area of interest is small animal medicine, with a focus on feline medicine, and in the future I plan to do my membership examinations in this area. I also love working with large animals, in particular cattle and horses.

Outside work I enjoy sports and am a passionate follower of the Collingwood Football Club. In addition I enjoy running, crafts and playing music including piano, classical percussion and jazz vibraphone.
